MyHeritage Library Edition Now Available
We are excited to announce that MyHeritage Library Edition is now available for free for InfoSoup library card holders. MyHeritage.com is one of the leading destinations to discover, share and preserve family histories, with millions of users worldwide. The Library Edition doesn't have all the interactive elements of MyHeritage.com, but it does provide access to the huge database of more than 9 billion historic records and includes 3 billion exclusive family tree profiles from MyHeritage and Geni. Here are just some of the resources available:
- Complete index of US Censuses from 1790 to 1940, with all the document images
- Military records, immigration records and passenger lists
- Citizenship & naturalization records
- Directories, guides, references, biographies and yearbooks
- Government, land and court records
- Wills and probate records
- More than a hundred million tombstone photos
- Hundreds of millions of Nordic records
100 million additional records are added on average every month, including exclusive content not available anywhere else.
One of the key features of MyHeritage, is the "Record Detective" technology that automatically finds additional relevant records. Once you find a record your are looking for, check at the bottom of that page for additional Record Detective results. In most cases, these results will contain records about the person, or relatives of the person, you are looking for.
For a brief overview, check out this tutorial video.
MyHeritage Library Edition is available to InfoSoup library users from anywhere using your library card. From outside of a library, the login page will ask for your library card number, without spaces. The vendor provides a "Sign in with Google" option but this is not currently supported by MyHeritage. Please use you libary card number for accessing this resource.
MyHeritage Library Edition will be replacing our subscription to Ancestry Library Edition. While Ancestry is also a wonderful genealogy resource, our license limited us to only allowing access to Ancestry from inside a library. MyHeritage, on the other hand, is available to use from anywhere with your library card. We hope that this increased access will make MyHeritage a better value for InfoSoup users. Ancestry Library Edition will continue to be available until the end of February, 2019.
